Les Abrams - Self Portrait

I have more than 25 years experience in the computer industry as a designer and programmer of real-time, closed-loop, servo-control systems. In this capacity, I have developed a model of this class of system that has become the basis for any design which I may undertake to implement.

As a result of developing this approach - of a design model or template, I found this to have more application than that of merely designing system software. I developed an interest in things medical in the late 90s. To my astonishment, I found that this "system model" concept pertained in great part to the functioning of the human body.

From this discovery, I was able to learn and to make sense of things medical - as they related to the human body, in a very systematic way. My systems overview of the human body - medically - allowed me to understand the relationships and functions of many of the organs and systems and subsystems which comprise the human body.

This discovery of the system analogue of the human body, came about in my search to learn the ways and solutions that could be applied to the study of the neuropathies. Thus, all areas of medicine in which I am interested, continue to yield to this system model - allowing me to learn this new material "in the context of the human system".

I continue to pursue knowledge in this manner - of things medical and of the study of the human physiology and its constituent parts and areas of interest.
